A life of faith

Abibus was a deacon who taught the word of God in towns and villages during the reign of Licinius. His preaching brought him before the authorities. He was beaten and questioned, but refused to yield to the ruler’s demands. The received account remembers his death by fire. He is commemorated with Gurias and Samonas, whose suffering belonged to the earlier persecution under Diocletian.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
