Saint Acindynus of Persia
Martyr
Persia
Feast day: November 2

A life of faith
Acindynus was a servant at the Persian court. The received account joins his memory with Pegasius, Anempodistus, Aphthonius and Elpidephorus during the persecution under Shapur II. The three court servants were arrested after confessing Christianity and died in a furnace.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Acindynus’s shared commemoration invites reflection on the support of companions when faith brings danger.
