A life of faith

Agathodorus accompanied Carpus and Papylus to Sardis. The calendar identifies him as their faithful attendant. The governor ordered his death in an attempt to frighten the other Christians into abandoning their faith.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Agathodorus’s remembrance invites attention to the often overlooked people who accompany others in suffering.
