A life of faith

Agathopus is named among the ten martyrs of Crete during the persecution under Decius. The calendar places his home at Epinia near Panormus. The companions refused the governor’s demand to sacrifice to idols and endured punishment. Their shared account remembers prayer for their persecutors before their execution.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

The shared remembrance of the ten martyrs invites you to consider the strength of companionship. Reach out to someone who may be facing hardship alone.
