Saint Alexander of Pydna
Martyr
Pydna, Macedonia
Feast day: March 14

A life of faith
Alexander lived at Pydna in Macedonia and taught people to believe in Christ. His received life recounts that he was brought before Maximian after his preaching became known. He confessed his faith despite threats and imprisonment. When again ordered to sacrifice, he refused and overturned the table used for offerings. Maximian ordered his beheading. Christians recovered and buried his body.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
