A life of faith

Andronicus lived in Antioch with his wife Athanasia and their two children. After both children died of illness, he distributed his property to poor people. The couple travelled to the Holy Land and then Egypt. Athanasia entered a women’s monastery, while Andronicus joined the community of the elder Daniel near Alexandria. The calendar remembers the years they subsequently spent in monastic life.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Andronicus’s life invites compassion after loss and thoughtful care for others through a difficult change in your own life.
