A life of faith

Anna is honored as the mother of the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus according to the flesh. Orthodox tradition places her within a faithful family shaped by worship and devotion to God. The Church commemorates her peaceful falling asleep in Jerusalem and also remembers her together with Joachim. Anna’s place in the Church’s memory gives particular dignity to the care that passes faith between generations. Her life invites attention to the people who nurture others quietly, often without knowing how their patience, love, and example will bear fruit in the future.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Remember someone who nurtured your faith or helped you grow. Give thanks for that care, and offer a younger or vulnerable person patient attention without demanding immediate results.
