A life of faith

Antonie embraced monastic life at Iezerul Vâlcii. When he hoped to travel to Mount Athos, the local bishop encouraged him to remain and serve the community nearby. Seeing the monastery church deteriorating, Antonie helped restore it with the bishop’s support and his own resources. He later withdrew with permission to a small cave, where he carved a chapel and lived in prayer.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Antonie’s example invites you to consider whether the work closest to home is the work that most needs your attention.
