A life of faith

Antony came from Veria and entered monastic life in the Pieria region. With his abbot’s blessing, he later withdrew to a cave near the River Aliakmon. The received life recalls years of prayer in solitude, with a priest visiting to bring him Communion. Antony died in the cave, and his relics were later taken to Veria.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Antony made room for sustained prayer. Choose a modest period of quiet that fits your responsibilities, and keep the practice without turning solitude into neglect of others.
