A life of faith

Aphthonius was a convert during the persecution. The received account joins his memory with Acindynus, Pegasius, Anempodistus and Elpidephorus during the persecution under Shapur II. He was beheaded after embracing Christianity.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Aphthonius’s remembrance invites reflection on a change of conviction and the cost of acknowledging it.
