Saint Auxentius of Bithynia
Monk and spiritual guide
Constantinople and the region of Chalcedon
Feast day: February 14

A life of faith
Auxentius served in the imperial guard before becoming a monk. He lived near Constantinople and later on a mountain near Chalcedon. People from nearby villages came to him for guidance, and the calendar remembers his encouragement to do good. It also associates him with the Council of Chalcedon and the defense of Orthodox teaching.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Auxentius invites reflection on offering guidance that helps another person take a concrete good action.
