Saint Basiliscus of Comana
Martyr
Amasia and Comana
Feast day: May 22

A life of faith
Basiliscus came from the region of Amasia and was a nephew of Theodore the Recruit. He was imprisoned with Eutropius and Cleonicus. After their deaths and his release, he preached the Gospel and was arrested again. At Comana he refused to sacrifice to the gods and was beheaded on the order of Agrippa.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Basiliscus recalls the decision to resume a calling after imprisonment.
