Saint Boniface of Ferentino
Bishop
Italy · Traditional early Christian era
Feast day: December 19

A life of faith
Boniface is remembered for generosity that began before his episcopal ministry. The OCA life describes him giving his own clothes to people without adequate clothing, even when his widowed mother worried about the household’s resources. It also preserves an account of grain given away and the family’s stores restored through prayer. When he became bishop of Ferentino, his concern for those in need continued. He encouraged his flock to notice even the least regarded neighbors. The brief account offers no detailed public chronology, but consistently identifies mercy and freedom from possessiveness as the center of his pastoral memory.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Notice a neighbor whose need could disappear beneath daily routines. Give thoughtfully within your responsibilities, and make care for overlooked people part of ordinary life.
