A life of faith

Calliopius was raised by his mother Theoclia after his father died. During persecution he left Perga for a city in Cilicia. He refused the governor’s demand to sacrifice to the gods, endured imprisonment and maintained his Christian confession before his execution.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Calliopius invites reflection on keeping a considered conviction under pressure.
