Saint Celsus the Martyr
Martyr
Northern Italy
Feast day: October 14

A life of faith
Celsus was a companion of Nazarius. The calendar says Nazarius brought him from a town during his travels and connects the two with repeated arrest during persecution. The received account records their eventual death by beheading. Celsus is commemorated with Nazarius, Gervasius and Protasius.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Celsus’s remembrance invites consideration of the care owed to younger people caught in conflicts they did not choose.
