A life of faith

Charalampius served the Christian community of Magnesia as a priest. His preaching brought him before the authorities during the persecution under Septimius Severus. The calendar describes his steadfast confession and continued prayer for others while suffering. His witness encouraged people around him. He died after being condemned to execution.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Charalampius invites reflection on keeping concern for others alive during personal hardship.
