Saint Christodulus of Patmos
Monk and founder
Bithynia and Patmos
Feast day: March 16

A life of faith
Christodulus was born John in Bithynia and entered monastic life while young. With imperial support he founded a church and monastery dedicated to John the Evangelist on Patmos. When attacks threatened the island, he withdrew with his disciples. His relics were later brought back to the community he founded.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Christodulus helped establish a lasting place of prayer on Patmos. Consider how patient work can support a community beyond your own lifetime.
