Saint Christopher the Martyr
Martyr
Antioch and Attalia
Feast day: May 9

A life of faith
Christopher, also called Reprobus, is remembered in a life set during the Roman persecutions. Distressed by the treatment of Christians, he spoke publicly against their persecutors and confessed Christ. When he was struck, he refused to retaliate. His story joins steadfast faith with restraint in the face of hostility.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Christopher offers a way to consider courage that does not depend on retaliation.
