Saint Constantin Sârbu
Priest and martyr
Cavadinești, Huși and Bucharest
Feast day: October 23

A life of faith
Constantin Sârbu grew up in poverty and studied theology and music before serving as a priest. He helped build a church in a poor Bucharest neighbourhood and encouraged the community to support people in distress. After imprisonment and forced residence, he restored another church and gathered a community engaged in charitable work.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Constantin’s parish work invites practical attention to the needs of the neighbourhood around a church.
