Saint Crescens the Apostle
Apostle and bishop
Galatia and Gaul
Feast day: July 30

A life of faith
Crescens was among the Seventy Apostles and is named in Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy. The Romanian calendar remembers him as bishop in Galatia and as a preacher in Gaul. He appointed his disciple Zachariah to serve at Vienne before returning to Galatia, where he suffered martyrdom.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Crescens recalls preparing another person to continue a community’s work.
