Saint Cumine the White of Iona
Abbot and writer
Iona · 7th century
Feast day: February 24

A life of faith
Cumine, also called Cumméne Find or the White, was an Irish monk who became the seventh abbot of Iona. He led the community during the seventh century and wrote an early life of Columba, the monastery’s founder. His writing helped preserve the memory of the community’s spiritual beginnings for later generations.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Remembering good examples can guide present responsibilities. Cumine invites us to preserve the stories that help a community grow in faith.
