A life of faith

Dalmat had served as a soldier under Theodosius the Great. With his son Faustus, he entered the monastery of Isaac near Constantinople. Dalmat later became its abbot, and the monastery came to bear his name. The calendar remembers his support for the fathers at the Council of Ephesus in 431.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
