Saint Daria of Rome
Martyr
Rome
Feast day: March 19

A life of faith
Daria is commemorated with Chrysanthus as a martyr of the early Roman Church. The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese account remembers her as an educated woman brought into an arranged marriage with Chrysanthus in an attempt to draw him away from Christianity. Instead, she embraced the Christian faith. Both proclaimed Christ despite persecution and were killed for their confession. Their shared feast falls on March 19.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Daria’s story includes changing her convictions and remaining faithful under pressure. Consider where honest learning or a difficult decision may ask you to act with integrity.
