A life of faith

Dionysius came from Scythia Minor and later worked in Rome. He translated Greek Christian writings into Latin, including writings of the Fathers, council documents, and saints’ lives. He also reorganised church archival material and developed work on calendar calculation. The calendar remembers him for proposing a chronology counted from Christ’s birth, as well as for combining learning with a modest way of life.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Dionysius’s work invites careful study that helps other people understand and use the knowledge you preserve.
