Saint Dorymedon of Synnada
Martyr
Synnada
Feast day: September 19

A life of faith
Dorymedon was a Christian member of the city council at Synnada. He quietly visited people imprisoned and wounded for their faith, including Trophimus. When questioned by the official Dionysius, he openly confessed Christianity. Dorymedon and Trophimus were eventually executed together.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Dorymedon makes solidarity with prisoners a concrete act rather than an abstract concern.
