A life of faith

After her husband’s assassination, Grand Duchess Elizabeth devoted herself to the convent of Saints Martha and Mary in Moscow. The community united worship with service to people in poverty. She was killed in 1918 and is honored as a new martyr.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
