A life of faith

Elpidephorus was a member of the Persian council who became Christian. The received account joins his memory with Acindynus, Pegasius, Anempodistus and Aphthonius during the persecution under Shapur II. He was beheaded after embracing Christianity.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Elpidephorus’s remembrance invites reflection on the relationship between public responsibility and personal faith.
