A life of faith

Eugene was one of three bishops who came from the Hellespont to Cherson after learning of the martyrdom of Basileus. With Elpidius and Agathodorus, he continued the preaching of the Gospel in the city. The three bishops were arrested, tortured and killed. Eugene is commemorated with the bishops who served the early Christian community of Cherson.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
