Saint Euphrosyne of Moscow
Grand duchess & nun
Moscow · 14th–15th centuries
Feast day: July 7

A life of faith
Euphrosyne was known as Eudokia before becoming a nun. She married Prince Demetrius of the Don and raised a family while supporting the life of the Church. The OCA account remembers the influence of Alexis of Moscow and Sergius of Radonezh on her spiritual life. She founded the Ascension women’s monastery in the Moscow Kremlin and supported church building and sacred art. After years of family responsibility, she received monastic tonsure under the name Euphrosyne. She died in 1407 and was buried at her monastery. Her life connects stewardship, family devotion, and a later monastic vocation.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Consider how your present responsibilities can support worship, learning, and care for others. A later change in vocation can grow from faithfulness in the duties you carry today.
