Saint Eutychius of Constantinople
Patriarch and confessor
Phrygia, Constantinople and Amasia
Feast day: April 6

A life of faith
Eutychius entered monastic life in Amasia and later became patriarch of Constantinople. The calendar remembers his role in the Fifth Ecumenical Council and his opposition to a teaching about Christ that brought imperial exile. He continued his religious life in Amasia and later returned to Constantinople.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Eutychius invites reflection on maintaining conviction when a responsibility becomes costly.
