Saint Felicity of Carthage
Martyr
Carthage in North Africa
Feast day: February 1

A life of faith
Felicity was imprisoned at Carthage with Perpetua and other Christians while pregnant. She gave birth to a daughter shortly before the group’s execution and entrusted the child to a Christian woman. The calendar remembers Felicity among those who refused to renounce their faith. She was killed with Perpetua after suffering in the amphitheater.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Felicity’s remembrance invites reflection on helping caregivers provide safety and care for a child in difficult circumstances.
