A life of faith

Fiacre came from the British Isles to the region of Meaux, where Bishop Faron gave him a place to live in the forest of Brie. The received account describes a hermitage, a chapel dedicated to the Mother of God and a garden. Fiacre cultivated fruit and vegetables and shared the harvest with people in need. His hermitage also welcomed poor people who needed shelter. He is remembered for combining prayer with manual work and practical care.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
