A life of faith

Galaction grew up in a Christian household in Emesa. His betrothed, Episteme, received baptism through him, and the two chose monastic life in separate communities at Mount Publion. Soldiers captured Galaction during a raid on the monasteries. Episteme joined him and confessed her Christian faith. Both endured persecution and were killed.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Galaction invites reflection on the convictions that shape your commitments. Consider how you can remain faithful while supporting another person’s freedom to follow Christ.
