Saint George Bogić
Priest and martyr
Pakrac, Majar, Bolmače and Našice
Feast day: June 17 (Gregorian); June 4 (Julian)

A life of faith
George Bogić was born in Pakrac in 1911 and studied at Nova Gradiška and the seminary in Sarajevo. Ordained in 1934, he served parishes at Majar and Bolmače before moving to Našice in 1940. In June 1941, Ustaše members took him from his home and killed him outside the town after severe abuse. His body was later buried at Brezik. The Serbian Church recognized him as a martyr in 1998.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Remembering victims calls for care toward people today. Offer practical support to someone facing intimidation without passing hostility to another community.
