A life of faith

George was a priest remembered among the martyrs of Holy Trinity Monastery at Novo Selo, now part of Apriltsi. The received account describes him remaining at the monastery while others sought safety. He was killed during the violence of May 9, 1876. The Bulgarian Orthodox Church canonized the Novo Selo martyrs in 2011.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Remember communities affected by violence, and offer practical care to someone facing hardship.
