Saint Gordius of Caesarea
Soldier and martyr
Caesarea in Cappadocia
Feast day: January 3

A life of faith
Gordius served as a centurion in Caesarea of Cappadocia. When persecution intensified under Licinius, he left military service and withdrew into the wilderness. He later returned during public games in the city and openly confessed Christ. Brought before the governor, he maintained his Christian faith and was killed.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Gordius invites reflection on remaining faithful when a role or institution pressures your convictions.
