A life of faith

Helen was the wife of Stephen Štiljanović, the Serbian leader associated with Srem and Slavonia. After his death she buried him and withdrew to German lands during the conflict. When she learned that his remains had been brought to Šišatovac Monastery, she returned there. She became a nun with the name Elisabeth and lived nearby in prayer. Her received life records that she died three years later and was buried at Šišatovac.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Loss can change a person’s daily life and sense of place. Make room for patient companionship and support during such changes.
