Saint Hermias of Apollonia
Martyr
Apollonia
Feast day: June 17

A life of faith
Hermias was among the Christians whom the deacon Isaurus encountered and instructed at a cave near Apollonia. Relatives reported the companions to the official Tripondius. The group refused to abandon Christ and was tortured under Apollonius, the official’s son. Their received life recounts their deliverance and influence on other converts before their eventual beheading.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
