A life of faith

Hripsime was a Christian nun who left for Armenia with Gayane after refusing an imperial marriage. In Armenia, King Tiridates tried to force himself on her. She escaped but was captured and killed. Her commemoration is joined with Gayane and other Christians who suffered persecution there.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Hripsime’s remembrance invites care for people who resist coercion and seek safety.
