A life of faith

Ioanichie entered Cetățuia Negru-Vodă Monastery and learned monastic life from its elders. With permission, he withdrew to a difficult-to-reach cave on the mountain nearby. He remained connected to the monastery through a disciple’s visits and regular confession and Communion with the abbot. The calendar remembers his sustained prayer and the monks and laypeople who sought his prayers and guidance.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Ioanichie’s example invites a regular life of prayer that remains connected to wise guidance and a community.
