Saint Iraclie of Bessarabia
Monk and confessor
Hârbovăț, Bessarabia
Feast day: August 3

A life of faith
Iraclie entered Hârbovăț Monastery after surviving wounds during the First World War. He translated spiritual texts, taught students preparing for church singing, and preached in parishes. During persecution, he sent money and food from his modest parish resources to struggling monks. Imprisoned in Soviet labour camps, he continued to encourage fellow prisoners and hear confessions. After release, he returned to monastic life and spiritual guidance.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Iraclie’s example invites you to join learning with practical generosity and to encourage people living through hardship.
