Saint James the Persian
Royal official and martyr
Persia, including Gundeshapur
Feast day: November 27

A life of faith
James served at the Persian royal court and abandoned his Christian practice for idol worship under pressure. Letters from his mother and wife challenged his decision. The account describes his tears over that choice and his return to an open confession of Christ. He refused to withdraw that confession before the ruler and was executed at Gundeshapur.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
James offers a serious example of acknowledging a wrong choice. Consider where honest regret can become a concrete change in your own life.
