Saint Julitta, Mother of Cyricus
Martyr
Lycaonia, Seleucia and Tarsus
Feast day: July 15

A life of faith
Julitta fled persecution with her three-year-old son Cyricus, traveling from Lycaonia through Seleucia to Tarsus. There she was arrested and brought before the governor Alexander. Cyricus was killed while she was being punished, and Julitta was later beheaded. Christians buried mother and son together.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Their remembrance invites care for families displaced by persecution and for children exposed to violence.
