A life of faith

Kyriaki was the daughter of the Christians Dorotheus and Eusebia. During the persecution under Diocletian, she was separated from her parents and sent to Nicomedia. She refused to abandon Christianity and prayed through repeated punishment. Before her death, she encouraged the Christians who had followed her to confess their faith.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Kyriaki recalls prayer that sustains conviction and encouragement offered to other people under pressure.
