Saint Lazarus of Mount Galesion
Priest and monastic founder
Palestine and Mount Galesion near Ephesus
Feast day: November 7

A life of faith
Lazarus was born near Magnesia in Asia Minor and sought a monastic life connected with Jerusalem. He spent six years at the monastery of Saint Sabbas in Palestine and was ordained a priest. After an invasion forced his departure, he settled on Mount Galesion near Ephesus and established a monastery dedicated to the Resurrection.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Lazarus rebuilt a life of service after displacement. Consider a practical way to help a community flourish when your own plans change.
