A life of faith

Leontius was one of the Christian leaders at Nicopolis during the reign of Licinius. Brought before the judge Lysias with other Christians, he openly confessed his faith and answered the judge’s questions about Christ’s death and resurrection. He was imprisoned and executed with the group remembered as the Forty-five Martyrs of Nicopolis.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Leontius recalls answering a hostile question with a clear statement of belief.
