A life of faith

Lucia refused Rix’s order to sacrifice to pagan gods and openly confessed Christ. Her received life connects her witness with Rix’s conversion and baptism. Later she asked to return to Italy during persecution. Rix accompanied her to Rome, where the prefect Aelius condemned both of them to death by beheading.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
