A life of faith

Lucian came from Samosata and studied Scripture at Edessa after distributing his inheritance to people in need. As a priest at Antioch he established schools for young people and worked on correcting copies of the Greek biblical texts. The calendar remembers his long imprisonment and martyrdom.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Lucian joins care for people in need with careful study. Consider how learning can serve another person.
