A life of faith

Lupus was associated with Demetrius of Thessalonica. After Demetrius’s death, Lupus dipped his garments in the martyr’s blood and kept the martyr’s ring. The calendar connects those objects with accounts of healing. It also remembers Lupus’s destruction of idols and his subsequent execution.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Lupus’s remembrance invites reflection on how a community honors those who have died and preserves their memory.
