Saint Lyubov of Ryazan
Fool for Christ
Ryazan, Russia · 1852–1921
Feast day: February 8

A life of faith
Lyubov Semenovna lived in Ryazan and is remembered as a fool for Christ. She prayed in the city’s churches and spent a period at the Kazan monastery for women. She later returned home for three years of secluded prayer before resuming life among the people of Ryazan. The monastery account remembers her concern for poor people and her distinctive habit of making paper cutouts. She died in 1921.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
